At S.E.L.F. (STOIC) CIC, we recognise the unique challenges faced by BAME sexual abuse survivors in Birmingham. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can begin their healing journey, reclaim their lives, and thrive.

Through tailored support services, educational resources, and community engagement, we aim to empower survivors and foster their self-advocacy. We believe that every survivor deserves access to the resources they need to process their trauma, build resilience, and navigate the complexities of the aftermath.

We are dedicated to amplifying the voices of BAME communities, advocating for their rights and wellbeing, and fostering a culture of understanding and solidarity. By breaking the silence surrounding sexual abuse, we hope to promote awareness and create a more just and equitable society for all.

Jeannie is a passionate advocate for the empowerment and healing of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) survivors of sexual abuse. Drawing from her own experiences and extensive research in trauma recovery, she has dedicated her time to creating supportive resources and safe spaces for individuals navigating the complexities of trauma. With a background in criminal law, counselling and community work, Jeannie combines professional expertise with a deep understanding of the cultural nuances that impact BAME communities, ensuring that her work resonates with those who need it most. In this transformative book, Jeannie offers practical tools and insights aimed at fostering self-compassion and emotional resilience among survivors. By blending personal stories with evidence-based self-help strategies, she provides a compassionate roadmap for recovery that encourages readers to embrace their journey toward healing. Her approach emphasises the importance of cultural sensitivity, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by BAME survivors while promoting a sense of community and solidarity. Beyond her writing, Jeannie has set up a community interest company, S.E.L.F. (Stoic) CIC, as a Legacy for her daughters. S.E.L.F. is a 'Supporting Empowerment and Liberation for Survivors'. Jeannie is actively involved in workshops, speaking engagements, and community outreach programs, where she empowers individuals to reclaim their narratives and find strength in vulnerability. Her commitment to fostering understanding and compassion within society shines through in every aspect of her work, making her chief advocate in the movement for healing and justice for BAME survivors of sexual abuse.
